Just Start

It is so easy to give yourself excuses about what it is you can and cant do. When it comes to making a video maybe the excuse is, is that its to cold outside. Or when it comes to writing that script or the blog post, the excuse is that the idea is not there. Well, its important in every scenario to just start and that can honestly be the hardest thing to do. It is true, though, when people say that we are our own worst enemies, for some reason, wee ourselves that we can do what we are telling ourselves we can' have to convinct. If you want to accomplish something, you can, it's just important to put your mind and heart into it. Once you start, though, it's hard to stop. I remember, in the very beginning, during my college years, it was hard for me to get into a writing and filmmaking routine because both require trust in oneself. To start writing or start making movies, especially on your own, you really have to believe in what it is that you are making, or just know that you are taking yourself to the right place. For me, it was difficult because at the age of 17, I didn't really understand my brain, and I didn't trust where my intuition was taking me. So I would pick up the pen and start writing, but more often than not, I would question where the story was going. As I continued writing, however, the less I asked and the more I just did. It's kind of funny because as a parallel life is very similar to writing. The more that you live, the more you accept, I guess, though there will always be questioning, but you get the point! So this is a message to you and a reminder to myself. It’s important to trust the process. You are going to make mistakes and not everyone will like what you do but with each project you will come back stronger and with more refined ideas. And if you have trouble starting, start with one sentence and then move to 2 or half a page, and then move to one. If you want to film, pick up the camera and push yourself out of your comfort zone. When you push yourself past your limit, that is when you are really learning. So trust me, all you have to do to get to where you want to be is just start and trust in where that takes you.
